On Monday, January 16, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant made his first social media appearance since a tragic car accident on December 30. In his post, he informed his fans and well-wishers that he had undergone successful surgery and thanked them for their support and well wishes.
The accident resulted in severe injuries for Pant, who was driving the car himself, and he has been ruled out of multiple India series as well as the upcoming Indian T20 League 2023. He is expected to be out of action for most of the year 2023. The accident occurred when his car hit a divider and caught fire, he was rescued by a Himachal Roadways bus driver and cleaner and was taken to a hospital in Dehradun.
Pant expressed his gratitude for the support of his fans, teammates, and the Indian Cricket team management. He also thanked the medical staff who helped him during his treatment. In his Instagram post, Rishabh Pant wrote:

“I am humbled and grateful for all the support and good wishes. Just wanted to let everyone know that my surgery was successful and I am grateful to be on the road to recovery. My spirits are high, and I am feeling better every day and I want to extend my gratitude to all of you for your kind words, support, and positive energy during this difficult time.”

Pant later took to Twitter and thanked the Indian Cricket Board as well who airlifted Pant to a Mumbai private hospital from Dehradun.

The Indian team meanwhile defeated Sri Lanka in a 3-match ODI series and is looking ahead to face New Zealand next.
