According to Ravichandran Ashwin, “Boomball” was the true star of their victory over England in Vizag. During the second Test match, India defeated England by 106 runs, with Bumrah emerging as the team’s outstanding player. Bumrah led his team to win over the visitors by taking nine wickets in two innings. India, who had lost the first Test by 28 runs in Hyderabad, levelled the five-match Test series 1-1 with this victory.
Commenting on his channel on YouTube, Ashwin referred to Bumrah’s performance against England as a “Himalayan feat”. In addition to having become the first Indian speedster as well as the fourth in the world to be regarded as the top Test bowler, Bumrah also became the fastest pacer in Indian history to reach 150 wickets in a Test match.
Ravichandran Ashwin said, “The real show stealer was BoomBall. Jasprit Bumrah has bowled extraordinarily. He is the leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets and also the No.1 ranked Test bowler. I am a huge fan of his and this is a Himalayan feat.”
In addition, Ashwin expressed his gratitude to rookie batsman Shubman Gill, noting that his hundred during the second Test proved his mettle as a batter. In the second innings versus England, Gill smashed 104 runs from 147 balls to record the first hundred of the year.
“Team performance helped us level the series” : Ravichandran Ashwin
He continued by drawing comparisons between the current Test series and the 2015 Ashes and stating that the team’s spirit and drive enabled them to prevail in the second Test of Day 4. India won the contest by 106 runs after bowling England out for 292 runs during the last innings.
The Team India all-rounder said, “We came into the fourth day with it all being even-stevens. But our extraordinary vibe, energy and team performance helped us level the series 1-1. England played an exciting Ashes series against Australia in 2005 and I followed that with great interest. I am getting a similar feeling of excitement about this series as well,”
