India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was involved in what was a rare incident in the game of cricket. During the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) game between Dindigul Dragons and Ba11sy Trichy, Trichy’s R Rajkumar was given out by the on-field umpire. The incident happened on the 13th over of the innings. Immediately after being given out, the batter challenged the decision.
As it turned out, the bat was hitting the ground which created the sound of the bat hitting the ball. However, the third umpire suggested there was a gap between the bat and the ball. This was the reason he was given not out. In reply, Ashwin, who bowled the over and was the skipper of the Dragons, decided to challenge the verdict. However, once again, the batter was given not out.

Actually a good decision from the umpire. He can say no conclusive evidence and stay with umpires call. But he was very clear in his decision and gave explanations for his decision too.

A similar thing happened during the intial days of drs when india toured srilanka for tests and India started opposing the use of drs from that series and took a lot of time to accept the drs.

Looking at the big screen I felt it was out: Ravichandran Ashwin
Meanwhile, the decision didn’t have any impact on the game. The Dindigul went on to win the game by six wickets. After the game, the two-time World Champion said after looking at the big screen, it looked out. He added that the DRS is being used for the first time in the competition.
“Looking at the big screen, I felt [it was out],” he said at the post-match presentation. “DRS is a new rule in this competition. The spike [on UltraEdge] generally comes ahead of the bat, even if there is an edge. And to overturn the on field call, there has to be conclusive evidence. That they overturned it, I was slightly not happy. So, I reviewed it, hoping they [umpires] might look at it from a different angle.”
Another Dindigul Adithya Ganesh said that it was a close call.
“It was a very close call, right? It happens,” Ganesh said at the post-match press conference. “I felt it was a close call from the inside. Again with Ash anna [brother], he was right to take the DRS as well.”
