‘Quetta jeet gaya’ – Fans react as Quetta Gladiators win low scoring thriller with a nail-biting 3-wicket finish against Islamabad United in PSL 2024

Quetta Gladiators won the match against Islamabad United in the ongoing PSL 2024. On a wicket that was not easy to bat on, Quetta restricted Islamabad to a total of 138. They then batted out deep and won the game despite suffering some hiccups in the middle. Both sides put on a good show and entertained the fans with their performances in the middle.

Batting first, Islamabad United were off to a flier, thanks to a quick-fire knock from Alex Hales. However, things slowed down after the initial start. The bowlers bowled in better lengths and let the ball do the talking. The spinners in the middle overs were brilliant. Abrar Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3 wickets with the ball.

Mohammad Wasim was impressive with his bowling in the middle overs. The duo put on breaks to the innings of the United which seemed to go well at one point in the game. Islamabad could not make the most of the good start and handed over the lead to the Gladiators. 139 was not going to be an easy chase. But the start from Jason Roy made things easier.

The star batter raced away to 37(18) before getting dismissed. The game was almost done and dusted at that phase. However, United made a good comeback by picking wickets at crucial junctures. In the middle Overs, Quetta lost a lot of wickets. While United seemed to be placed well for a win, Rilee Rossouw and Mohammad Amir aimed to take the game deep and finish towards the dying moments of the game.

The duo was successful in doing so. Rossouw played a mature knock from his end. As wickets kept on falling on a consistent basis at the other end, he held his end up and allowed Amir to strike at the other end. It helped the team as they not just helped themselves, but ensured Quetta won the match by 3 wickets. Islamabad fought well but could not get over the line.
