For the runners-up, there is a significant reward as well, with a prize of US$2 million awaiting them. Additionally, the teams that make it to the semi-finals but do not clinch the title will still earn a respectable sum of $800,000 each. These prizes collectively constitute the total prize pool of US$10 million. The tournament will span across 10 venues and will feature 48 matches, commencing on 5 October.

This edition of the Cricket World Cup stands out as the largest ever, and it introduces rewards for each league match victory. In a round-robin format, where each team plays every other team once, the top four teams will advance to the semi-finals. In the group stage, the winning team of each match will be rewarded with US$40,000. Even for the six teams that do not manage to qualify for the semi-finals, there is still a consolation prize of US$100,000 each.

World Cup to begin on October 5

The much-anticipated ODI World Cup 2023 will be played on October 5 with a finalist from the previous year. It will be England and New Zealand taking on each other at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Since the tournament is in a round-robin format, every team would be playing nine matches each. It is also to be noted that the first as well as the last match of the tournament will be played in Ahmedabad.

The Indian team will be kickstarting their campaign with their match against the Australian team on October 8 at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Along with that India will also be facing Pakistan in Ahmedabad on October 14. It is also to be kept in mind that Pakistan have never defeated India in the history of ODI World Cups.
