As Lionel Messi moved from FC Barcelona to PSG many thought his career to be over and certainly the player to be past his prime. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner had a horrid first season at the French league as he endured the majority of it being injured.
All this while his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo continued to do well at Manchester United in the first season. After a year of turmoil at the club, Messi however has risen again from his slumber of bad form and gotten back to his very best this season.
The Argentinian has 20 Goals and 20 assists for club and country this year, more than anyone in club football at the moment. He added two to the tally against Jamaica on Tuesday after coming off from the bench in the second half. A free kick and a solo goal took Messi’s tally to nine in his last three games for Argentina.
At the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey, Argentina started with captain Messi on the bench against Jamaica. The diminutive Argentinian however was brought onto the pitch just before the hour mark to entertain the record-breaking crowd. In just half an hour of the game, Messi produced a free kick and came up with a sublime solo game to clinch two goals in a 3-0 victory.
Ever since the PSG player came onto the pitch, it turned into an action-packed game. Three fans invaded the pitch in a matter of minutes along with two goals from Messi. People in the USA got a first-hand taste of Messi’s magic and were vowed by the footballing master class that the former Barcelona player showcased.
Twitter was also buzzing after seeing Massi come up with the kind of performance that he did in his prime. At 35 years of age, the Argentinian continues to produce sensational performances and the fans were seemingly overjoyed.
