Prashanth Neel, the director of the upcoming film Salaar Part 1, has confirmed that the entire story will be told in two films. In a new interview with Pinkvilla, the director revealed that KGF was not originally a two-part narrative, but Salaar was. He revealed, “Audience should not expect another KGF from Salaar – It is a world of its own, with its own emotion and characters. I’m hoping that people see Salaar for the story it sets up. We established the tone of Salaar from the first scene.”
He also stated that he hopes to achieve this with Salaar because cinema is the most popular storytelling format in India. Prabhas, the star of Baahubali, plays the lead role in the film. The filmmaker revealed, “No one can show innocence like Prabhas sir. At the same time, he can demonstrate aggression. I was sold on this aspect and have looked into it further in Salaar. His personality is ideal for Salaar. He is a giant who is extremely gentle. Salaar is a two-part saga, whereas KGF was not. The story is so large that it could fill a full 6-hour film.”

The filmmaker also stated that the audience will believe the story has a second part because there is enough content for it. He also revealed that he wrote Salaar before beginning work on KGF. The upcoming magnum opus film starring Prabhas, is also the first collaboration between KGF director Prashanth Neel and Prabhas. Prabhas will appear in the film alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu in lead roles. Tinnu Anand, Sriya Reddy, Easwari Rao, and Ramachandra Raju also appear in the film.
The movie is produced by Vijay Kiragandur’s Hombale Films and will be released in theatres on December 22. It will be available in five languages: Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi. The film will compete at the box office with Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Vicky Kaushal, and Taapsee Pannu. It will be a clash of the blockbusters at the theatres.
