Cricket has been the most popular sport in India since its introduction. However, Hockey is the national sport of this country. But, no such improvements have been observed in recent times in different sports like Hockey, and Football. India has the biggest and rich-vein T20 League in the world in the name of the Indian T20 League.

The Indian Cricket Board also is the richest Cricket Board in the world. In Football, Indian Super League has been introduced and it has helped the overall infrastructure by a considerable margin in the last few years. Still, India are yet to play in any FIFA World Cup. Now, the former Indian cricketer, Gautam Gambhir shared a suggestion to the Indian Board to share the revenue with other sports for their benefit.

“I think probably the Board should give away 50% of its revenue to all the other sports” – Gautam Gambhir

Now, a video has gone viral where Gautam Gambhir was seen sharing a suggestion to the Indian Cricket Board. He said that the Board need to give away 50% of its revenue to other sports. While speaking at the TURF2022 & India Sports Awards of FICCI, he said: “If you are talking about my way, I think probably BCCI should give away 50% of its revenue to all the other sports, all the other Olympic sports. Because 50% of revenue generated out of cricket is sufficient for cricketers. But the rest of the 50 percent can actually pick up all the other sports.”

Gambhir shared the video on his Twitter account with a caption that read: “My mantra for India to become a super SPORTING power!” He also added: “Sports is going to play a massive role in the development of India. There is a need to engage young children in sports and physical activities instead of their electronic devices. Every state should pick up one sport as Odisha has done with Indian hockey. See where hockey has gone today. I know sports ministry is doing a lot and corporates are getting involved, but if each state picks up one sport and completely focuses on that, imagine where our Olympic sports are going to be.”
