This year, both teams will take on each other in ODI World Cup early in the tournament.

With only a few months left in the tournament, Pakistan wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has said that winning the World Cup is the aim for his side and not just winning against India. Notably, Rizwan and Babar Azam recently studied in Howard University.

“Defeating India is not like winning the World Cup for us, winning the World Cup is our actual aim,” Mohammad Rizwan.

After beating India, no shopkeeper took money from us: Mohammad Rizwan

Meanwhile, a while ago, Rizwan revealed that after beating India in the 20-20 World Cup 2021, the shopkeepers back home didn’t charge a penny from him.

“When we won against India, that time, I thought it was only a match for me. It was because we won that game easily. But when I came to Pakistan, I realised how much it meant. Whenever I went to a shop, they won’t take money from me. They would say, ‘you go, you go. I won’t take money from you!’” Rizwan told Mike Atherton on Sky Sports.

“People would say, ‘everything is free for you here’. This is the love from all of Pakistan after that match,” said Rizwan.

For the unversed, Pakistan beat India for the first time in 2021 as far as 20-20 World Cups are concerned. In the 2007 edition, India won both games against their Asian neighbors including the final. After this, they started playing each other regularly in 20-20 World Cups in 2012. Since then, they have played each other in every edition of the tournament. Last year, India managed to resume their normal course of service against Pakistan.
