Bangalore’s rising-star, Rajat Patidar has carried his form in the ongoing Qualifier game against Rajasthan. Patidar, who scored a match-winning hundred against Lucknow in the Eliminator, has hit a half-century in the game. The right-hander came out to bat when Virat Kohli (7) was caught behind by opposition skipper Sanju Samson off Prasidh Krishna. The dismissal had taken place in the second over of the innings.

Patidar opened his account with a second-ball four in the third over against Krishna. The right-hander hammered same bowler in the last over of the powerplay with two back-to-back fours. Luckily, he was dropped by Riyan Parag at the backward point after the power play and Patidar good use of that. The chance was a tough one as the ball was going over the fielder’s head.

For the next two overs after this. he took singles only. In the ninth over, Yuzvendra Chahal came to bowl. The Madhya Pradesh player hit the first six of his innings on the third ball of the over. His inning was vital as skipper Faf du Plessis was struggling at the crease. The skipper got out in the 11th over after mustering 25 off 27 balls.

At that time, the 28-year-old was batting at 37 off 29 balls having hit another four of his inning on the first ball of the over. He hit a six to complete his half-century in the 15th over of the game. In the next over, he hit another six against Ravichandran Ashwin but perished on the next ball trying to do the same.

On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell, who came in after Du Plessis’ wicket, scored a 13-ball 24 before perishing to Boult in the 14th over. Maxwell’s wicket triggered a collapse for the team. From 111/2, the team went to 157/8 with only Shahbaz Ahmed (12*) reaching the double-digit mark. In-form Dinesh Karthik (6), couldn’t create any impact in such an important game. The 2008 winners made a magnificent comeback by picking six wickets in the last six overs.
