Rajasthan Royals’ opening batter Jos Buttler is set to miss the IPL 2023 game against Delhi Capitals on April 8. In the sixth game of the ongoing tournament against Punjab Kings, he took a catch of Shahrukh Khan. This took place in the last over of the first innings. In the process, the England player injured his finger. This was the reason he didn’t come out to open the innings.

England’s white-ball captain was replaced by Ravichandran Ashwin in the opening slot. The latter didn’t have much of an impact in the game with the willow. Meanwhile, the Royals lost the game by five runs. In the post-match presentation, skipper Sanju Samson revealed why Buttler came out to bat at number three.

“Jos wasn’t fully fit. He had a stitch on his finger,” Samson said during the post-match press conference.

On the decision to send Ashwin, ahead of Devdutt Padikkal, the RR captain said: “The thinking behind Devdutt Padikkal at No. 4 was we knew that they had a left-arm spinner (Harpreet Brar) and legspinner (Rahul Chahar) who would be bowling in the middle overs. So, it was important for us to have a left-hander.”

Jos Buttler is set to miss the upcoming game against Delhi Capitals

As a result of the injury, it is reported by the Times of India that Buttler might miss the upcoming game against Delhi Capitals. This match will be played in Assam on April 8, just like it happened against the Kings. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see who will play in place of Buttler. The likes of Donovan Ferraira and Joe Root are also part of the Pink Brigade.

Either of them might play a part in the game. Meanwhile, the fans aren’t happy with the two-time World Cup winner’s alleged absence in the next game.
