Alex Carey is currently busy playing in the ongoing third Test of the Ashes 2023. However, controversy hit the headlines when Carey got accused of not paying a barber after getting a haircut. The former England skipper, Alastair Cook also accused him while doing commentary during the match.

But, later, he issued an apology as it turned out to be a case of mistaken identity. Cook said: “There’s also been a bit of fuss around on a rainy day, a bit of news about a haircut which might have been discussed on the radio the other day. A case of mistaken identity, so I apologize for the mistaken identity to Alex Carey.” Listening to that, fans shared their views on social media.

Australia set a 251-run target for England in the ongoing third Test

Speaking of the controversy, the UK barber, Adam set a deadline for Carey to pay £30 for a haircut. He said: “I’m still waiting. hey all came in just before we shut. We cut their hair and had a great laugh. But we don’t accept cards and Alex said he had no cash on him. Well, there’s a Tesco cash machine literally round the corner he could have run to. He could have nipped back to their hotel and been no more than five minutes but instead he said he would transfer it. Maybe he forgot. I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt but if it’s not paid by Monday, I won’t be happy.”

Later, Carey’s teammate, Steve Smith showed support to Carey on social media and wrote: “I can confirm that @alexcarey_5 has not had a haircut since we were in London. Get your facts right @thesun”. Along with him, Cricket Australia (CA) also showed support for Carey and confirmed that they will stand by the player. So, Cook came up with such an apology on the air. Speaking of the match, after the first session of day four, England needed just 98 runs with six wickets in hand while chasing 251 runs.
