South Africa vs India 2023-2024

‘Padosi hare hum jeete ‘ – Fans react with joy after India beat South Africa by 8 wickets to win first ODI

India beat South Africa by 8 wickets to take 1-0 lead in the ODI series on Sunday

Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, and Sai Sudharsan helped the Indian Cricket Team win the first ODI against South Africa with complete ease. It was an outstanding display of cricket from the men in blue as they outclassed the opposition on Sunday in Johannesburg.

It was Aiden Markram who won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first. The South African skipper must have misread the pitch as the Indian bowlers ran riot. Proteas were bowled out for just 116 inside the 28th over in front of a shocked home crowd.

Sai Sudharsan marked his ODI debut with a brilliant half-century on debut. The left-handed batter got to the mark in just 41 balls to announce his arrival in international cricket. Both teams now move to Gqeberha to play the 2nd game on Tuesday.

India coast to easy win against South Africa –

KL Rahul and his Indian Cricket Team set a small target of 117 to win the first ODI in Johannesburg on Sunday. Ruturaj Gaikwad was out early when he was trapped in front of the wicket to be dismissed for 5.

That was the only joy for the South African as Sai Sudharsan and Shreyas Iyer added 88 runs for the 2nd wicket. Indian batters found the conditions to their liking as they took full toll on an already demoralized South African team.

22-year-old debutant Sai Sudharsan played some delightful shots to reach his first fifty in ODI cricket. Shreyas Iyer on the other hand played with characteristic aggression as he reached his half-century with a six. Andile Phelukwayo dismissed Iyer when the Indian batter mistimed a pull only to be caught by David Miller for 52.

Earlier in the day, Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan bowled with pace and fire to skittle the South Africans out for 116. Tony De Zorzi began well with a quickfire knock of 28 before falling to Arshdeep Singh. The top-scorer for the home team was Andile Phelukwayo who scored 33 runs from 49 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Arshdeep Singh bowled ten overs to pick 5/37 which is his best ODI figure and his first fifer in this format. Avesh Khan also bowled with great pace as he picked 4 wickets and unsettled the South African batters. Kuldeep Yadav picked the last wicket of the day to cement India’s commanding day in the field.
