New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson becomes parent for third time; Blessed with baby girl

New Zealand will play in the two-match Test series against Australia starting tomorrow in Wellington.

Kane Williamson

The third child of New Zealand celebrity Kane Williamson and his partner Sarah is a baby girl. A three-year-old girl and a one-year-old son are the couple’s other two children. Due to paternity leave, Williamson was unable to play in New Zealand’s most recent home T20I series versus Australia. However, he was excellent in the most recent two-Test series versus South Africa, helping the Black Caps win their first-ever Test series against the Proteas.

Williamson amassed his thirty-first, thirty-first, and thirty-second Test hundreds in that series. This also ranks him eleventh all-time in Test hundreds and just one shy of matching Alastair Cook. Williamson was included in the New Zealand team for the two-match Test series involving the two nations after skipping the T20 series, which Australia dominated 3-0.

As a member of the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024, New Zealander Kane Williamson will shortly be in India. After suffering a knee injury sustained during the season’s first game in 2023, Williamson’s time with GT was cut short. Williamson’s availability would be extremely beneficial to Gujarat as Shubman Gill, the team’s new leader following the significant trade of Hardik Pandya to the Mumbai Indians, will benefit greatly from his leadership expertise.

WTC Champions announce playing XI for first Test against New Zealand

Australia’s captain Pat Cummins has revealed his playing eleven for the first Test match versus New Zealand in Wellington. Veteran batter Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja will open once again. Following David Warner’s retirement earlier this year, Smith has been used as the opener for Australia. During their most recent Test series versus the West Indies, the batter failed three times in the series. However, he made a crucial 91* in the second innings away in Brisbane. The bowling attack is same that was used for their last five Tests in the past 3 months.

Australia XI: Steve Smith, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins (c), Mitch Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood
