The National Cinema Day will take place on October 13 this year, according to the Multiplex Association of India (MAI). To celebrate National Cinema Day, more than 4,000 screens at multiplexes in India, including PVR INOX, Cinepolis, Miraj, and Delite, have linked together. Taking it to their official social media handle, the ‘Multiplex Association of India’ announced the good news of ticket prices being slashed.
Their caption read, “This special event celebrates the extraordinary success of numerous films at the box office this year by bringing audiences of all ages together for a day of cinematic bliss. It’s a sincere ‘thank you’ to all the moviegoers who helped make it a success and an open invitation to those who haven’t yet visited their neighbourhood theatre,”

In a statement, Mr Bhuvnesh Mendiratta, COO, of Miraj Cinemas said, “National Cinema Day is particularly dear to us at Miraj Cinemas since it is a day of thanksgiving for our cherished moviegoers and a warm invitation to those who haven’t yet experienced the wonder of the big screen following the difficulties of the COVID-19 period. The excitement of sold-out performances and the joyous return of “houseful” signs to our ticket desks last year signalled an important turning point. Last year on this day, more than a lakh moviegoers at Miraj were treated to the enchantment of cinema thanks to the Multiplex Association of India (MAI).”
His statement further added, “After observing this overwhelmingly positive response, the Association made the sensible decision to investigate creative, low-cost models (Rs 99 flat, excluding premium formats), expanding the chances for viewers to enjoy the cinematic experience. We at Miraj Cinemas estimate a 25–30% increase in foot traffic this year as we expand our footprint to 191 screens over 60 theatres and build on our prior successes. National Cinema Day honours the fun of watching films and stands for our dedication to ensuring that everyone can enjoy them.”
