Virat Kohli was the hero of the India- Pakistan World Cup encounter. The high-intensity affair was almost out of reach of India when Kohli and Hardik Pandya combined to bring India one of their most memorable wins in recent history.
Kohli played a brilliant inning of 82* off of 53 deliveries to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat. His scintillating performance brought everyone to their feet in Australia and back home as well. Many cricket fans took to Twitter in hoards and lauded Kohli for his match-winning efforts.
Among these were some very famous celebrities as well. One of India’s biggest actors, for example, Chiranjeevi Konidela tweeted, “King Kohli. You gave us the most delightful and memorable Diwali Patakha of a performance. Take a Bow!! Chak De Team India.”
Arguably India’s greatest cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar also could not stop himself from Tweeting about Kohli. He said, “Virat Kohli, it was undoubtedly the best innings of your life. It was a treat to watch you play, the six off the back foot in the 19th over against Rauf over long-on was spectacular!”
Another big celebrity Shah Rukh Khan, wrote, “So god to see a great game of cricket. So wonderful to see India win. So brilliant to see Virat Kohli batting… and so inspiring to see him cry and smile… and the background score of Chak de India!! Happy Diwali starts right now!!!.”
Probably the biggest celebrity in the country, Narendra Modi also lauded Kohli for his impressive innings. The Prime Minister of India congratulated the team for outstanding performance and specially mentioned Virat Kohli for his remarkable tenacity.
India’s religious leader Sadhguru was another celebrity to congratulate Virat Kohli on his performance. He wrote, “Congratulations to Team India for providing a cracker of a match as a Diwali gift to the Nation. It’s wonderful to see Virat Kohli, a truly masterclass batsman regaining his traction with a spectacular performance. Best wishes- SG.”
