After the announcement of the ODI World Cup 2023 schedule, Indian fans have been trying to book hotels for October 15, 2023. Apparently, on that day, India and Pakistan will lock horns at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Notably, it was previously reported that the game will be played on the same day. Now, after the confirmation, the fans have been trying to book hotel rooms to stay for a short period.

However, they have witnessed a surge in prices. From 5000 for average rooms, the prices have shot up to 40000. On the other hand, the luxury rooms have touched 100,000 and above. The officials of Gujarat’s Hotels and Restaurants Association (HRA) told PTI that “If the hoteliers think that the demand is very high…they will try to make some revenue as they are assured that rooms will be full despite higher rates. Once the demand drops, the prices will come down.”

Pakistan is yet to beat India in the ODI World Cup history

Talking about Indo-Pak games in the ODI World Cup history, they started playing against each other in 1992. Even though Pakistan won the title, they couldn’t beat their Asian rivals. Four years later, the then-defending champions were beaten by the Men In Blue in the quarter-final played in Bangalore. In the 1999 WC game played during the Kargil War, India continued the tradition.

In the 2003 World Cup, India not only won against Pakistan but also ensured their Asian opponents crashed out in the first round. Four years later, both teams lost to lower-ranked at the time (Bangladesh beat India and Ireland beat Pakistan) which eventually ruled them out of the Super Eight race. In the 2011 semifinal, India beat Pakistan in the Green Brigade’s only game on Indian soil. In that tournament, Pakistan played their league games in Sri Lanka, the quarterfinal game in Pakistan.

In the last two ODI World Cups, Pakistan didn’t had any answer to India’s onslaught across all departments of the game.
