MS Dhoni heads into the South Indian movie industry
The former Indian captain eyes the South Indian movie industry with his next move.
After conquering the cricket world with unique batting skills and unmatched leadership qualities, MS Dhoni is now venturing into the film industry. As many would think though, the former India captain is not starting his acting career (not yet), he has just expanded his production house to the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industries.
Named ‘Dhoni Entertainment’, this production house is launching its foray into the South Indian film industry. The announcement was made by LetsCinema in a tweet that read, “EXCLUSIVE: Dhoni is launching his film production company in south ‘Dhoni Entertainment’ to produce films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.”

Notably, the production house is co-owned by Dhoni and his wife Sakshi Singh Dhoni. Vikas Hasija currently heads the business at Dhoni Entertainment. With just three projects under its belt, namely Road of the Lion, Blaze to Glory and The Hidden Hindu the production house is looking to expand and get additional films under its belt.
Road of the Lion is an Indian documentary drama based on the Indian T20 League team Chennai who were ousted from the league in 2016 for two years. The documentary shows the return of the team in the 2018 Indian T20 League. Chennai went on to win that edition of the mega tournament.
Blaze to Glory on the other hand is a documentary about India’s road to the 2011 ODI World Cup final against Sri Lanka. India emerged victorious in that match as well, with Dhoni leading a star-studded team. The third, The Hidden Hindu, is a web series based on the book of the same name. The book is authored by Akshant Gupta and is set up in the 21st century.
MS Dhoni to lead Chennai in 2023
Although Dhoni has taken retirement from international cricket, he still continues to play a huge role in the Indian T20 League. Chennai franchise CEO Kasi Vishwanathan confirmed in September this year that Dhoni will continue to lead the Chennai team in 2023 as well. The mercurial cricketer will hope to win the fifth trophy with Chennai after having won the Indian T20 League on four occasions already.
