Mohammad Amir opens up on his International comeback following Shahid Afridi’s appointment as chief selector

Pakistan are going through one of the rough phases in cricket and the team ended 2022 without winning a single Test on home soil given that the team faced their first-ever whitewash in their history of 75 years. To add more, the whitewash came against the Ben Stokes-led England team and much to the surprise of the Pakistani fans, the team almost lost the first Test against New Zealand that kicked off on December 26.

One has to agree that they are missing key pacers and the youngsters ended up picking injuries more often than not. The likes of Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi have been in and out of the squad on the back of their frequent injuries, letting the team down when they were in need of their services, the most.

As things stand, the former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir, opened up on a possible comeback and said that it might happen if God wills. Fans, who took cognizance of the same, went crazy on the internet and claimed that the pacer might make a comeback for the sake of Pakistan at the earliest. “Let’s see. Agar Allah ne chaaha toh (if god’s willing)” Amir was quoted as saying.

Could Mohammad Amir make a comeback in 2023?

With the interim selection committee led by Shahid Afridi planning to make changes, it remains to be seen if Babar Azam would continue his stint as the skipper of the team, given that they had a poor outing in the longest format of the game. If at all the selectors plan to sack Babar, it might come in the longest format of the game and chances do exist for a possible return of Amir.

With Najam Sethi taking over the reign as the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), it remains to be seen if the Pakistani team could make a comeback in the approaching year. With the second Test against the Kiwis set to take place on January 2, 2023, Monday, fans are hoping for a possible return of the team, although one has to agree that it is highly unlikely.
