In the crucial Asia Cup 2023 final, Sri Lanka took the toss and decided to bat first. Mohammed Siraj destroyed Sri Lanka’s top order with a 5-wicket haul during just his third over. As Sri Lanka was reduced to 12 for 6, Siraj grabbed a fifer while Bumrah scalped a wicket.

Mohammed Siraj of India has put up a sensational display by taking five wickets, forcing Sri Lanka to go on the defensive. With his superb swing bowling, the right-arm speedster is in brilliant form and has confused the Sri Lankan batters.

Siraj accomplished a remarkable accomplishment by collecting four wickets in one over, and he immediately followed it up by taking his fifth wicket. Jasprit Bumrah, the pace bowler, has provided Siraj with excellent support by delivering a tight stint and taking a wicket.

Mohammed Siraj’s epic rise in ODI cricket

In January 2019, Siraj played against Australia in his first ODI. He finished the game with a score of 0/76 and was forced to wait more than three years to receive the second ODI cap.

After making a return last year, the pacer hasn’t looked back since. His powerplay overs have always been where he has had the most success. He even surpassed the highest-ranked ODI bowler earlier this year.

The pacer has achieved great success thanks to his quick swings with the new ball. Siraj has taken 30 wickets in ODIs, 30 of which came in the powerplay. Since the beginning of 2022, no bowler has even grabbed 20 wickets during this phase. Notably, Siraj’s average falls below 20 in the first 10 overs.

Since the beginning of 2022, Siraj has taken 50 ODI wickets, which is a full-member team record. Alzarri Joseph, a speedster from the West Indies, ranks behind him in this category with 44 kills.

With 43 wickets, Kuldeep Yadav is Siraj’s closest competitor among Indians. Siraj, meanwhile, has two four-wicket hauls in this format, with 4/32 being his highest total. But during the currently ongoing Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka, he has achieved his first fifer in ODI cricket.
