Jonny Bairstow found an unfortunate way to get dismissed in the second innings of the Hyderabad Test. The English batter could not judge the ball from Ravindra Jadeja and ended up leaving it. The middle order batter thought it to be go away from him. But the ball did not turn as Jadeja had delivered a straighter delivery to get rid of the star batter.
The visiting side was going well at one stage in the 2nd innings. The opening pair of Zack Crawley and Ben Duckett gave a good start to England before perishing. The duo ensured England stayed alive in the match with quickfire cameos. However, the middle-order batters could not continue the good work done by the opening pair. Ollie Pope has been batting well in the middle.
But Joe Root, Jonny, and Ben Stokes could not step up when it mattered. While Root perished due to a good incoming delivery from Bumrah, Stokes was undone by a peach of a delivery from Ashwin. As a result, England found themselves at 165/5 after the wicket of the skipper. Bairstow found a bad way to get dismissed in the 2nd innings.
Brilliant setup from Ravindra Jadeja
Even in the 1st innings, Jonny batted well till he got out. In the 1st innings, Axar bowled a superb delivery to get the wicket of the experienced batter who was looking good till then. In the 2nd innings, Jadeja set Bairstow up well. The left-arm orthodox spinner dished out deliveries and asked Bairstow to drive them. The England batter was tested with away-going deliveries from the Indian all-rounder.
Jadeja bombarded a series of off-spinning deliveries to Bairstow in his spell. The star bowler then bowled a straighter one to the right-handed batter. Thinking the ball to spin away from him, Bairstow left it. However, the setup of Jadeja was so good that the ball did not turn and clipped the top of the off stump. No wonder why Bairstow was surprised with it.
