Karnataka team’s captain, Mayank Agarwal has been admitted to the ICU as he complained of a burning sensation in his mouth and throat. The incident happened just before he was boarding the flight from Agartala to Surat. He was then rushed to the ILS hospital and was admitted to the ICU. Moreover, he is out of danger.

Mayank was in amazing form and leading the Karnataka side for the Ranji Trophy 2024. They won the match against Tripura by 29 runs at the Maharaj Bir Bikram Stadium in Agartala. Karnataka’s next match is against the Railways at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat from February 2. The team has won two matches and lost one, while one ended in a draw.

They are currently leading the Elite C group with 15 points. The doctors have currently kept him under observation and he will be discharged once he is fine. Hence, Mayank will be joining the team late and someone else might take up the captaincy until he is back. The team along with the fans are hoping for their captain’s speedy recovery.

Mayank Agarwal’s Ranji Trophy 2024 performance

Mayank Agarwal is in splendid form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. He has scored 460 runs in four matches at an average of 44.28 with two centuries to his name. Previously, he was the leading run-scorer of the 2022–23 season. Karnataka is first in Group C of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group with 15 points in four games, having won two matches and lost one.

He played his first match for India in 2018 and has played a total of 21 Test matches in his career. Moreover, he scored 1488 runs in 21 matches at an average of 41.3, with four centuries. In March 2022, he played his last match for India which was against Sri Lanka. The 32-year-old opener has played five ODIs for India in his career.
