A number of other Bollywood celebrities, including John Abraham, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Kangana Ranaut, have joined the ‘Visit Lakshadweep campaign’ by using the hashtag #ExploreIndianIslands. This is in the midst of a controversy surrounding disparaging remarks made on social media about PM Modi’s recent visit to Lakshadweep by a few Maldivian ministers. The government of the Maldives has disassociated itself from the statements expressed by its ministers.
