The ongoing Test match between India and Australia in Nagpur has seen Ravichandran Ashwin in outstanding form. He took three wickets in the first innings and then batted at number three, scoring 23 runs in the process. He also achieved an incredible feat in the second innings with the ball.

He completed his five-wicket haul in the second innings and equalled Anil Kumble’s record for most five-fors (31) in Test cricket. The star all-rounder put Aussie batters under pressure right from the word go. He bowled the second over of the innings and got rid of Usman Khawaja.

He then got the wickets of David Warner, Matt Renshaw, and Peter Handscomb. Finally, he dismissed Alex Carey to complete his 31st five-wicket haul. The 36-year-old once again proved why he is ranked among the top bowlers in the world.

In the meantime, Twitter was in awe of the all-rounder as he achieved this major feat. “Thank god Australia got the spinner who bowls like Ashwin…or it would be game over by now.” a user sarcastically wrote.

Notably, Australia had called for a net bowler from Baroda named Mahesh Pthiya ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Apparently, the bowler had a similar bowling style to that of Ashwin. The Kangaroos considered Ashwin a big threat and wanted to be well-prepared to face him.

Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma dominate the first innings

Earlier in the game, Ashwin’s spin twin, Ravindra Jadeja had taken a five-wicket haul in the first innings to keep Australia restricted to a score of just 177. After that, it was the complete Rohit Sharma (120 runs in 212 balls) score as he scored a brilliant century.

All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja (70 runs in 185 balls) and Axar Patel (84 runs in 74 balls) both scored half-centuries to help him out. With this, India scored 400 runs and built a 223-run lead in the first innings.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Ravichandran Ashwin’s five-wicket haul
