VVS Laxman, the former Team India batter and the current chairman of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), will supposedly serve as the team’s head coach in the Asian Games in 2023. Hrishikesh Kanitkar, the former all-rounder, will serve as the squad’s temporary head coach for the same tournament for the women’s cricket team.
From September 23 to October 8, 2023, Hangzhou, China, will host the Asian Games. Ruturaj Gaikwad will serve as the captain of the Indian men’s squad, while Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian women’s team. The latter, though, will be absent from the first two games as a result of the ban imposed for her contentious actions in Bangladesh.
Laxman will serve as the men’s team coach for India in the Asian Games, according to a Times of India article. Sairaj Bahutule, a former leg-spinner, will coach bowling, and Munish Bali will instruct fielding.
According to the source, the selection of the newly appointed coach and support staff for the women’s team may have been delayed until the beginning of the current international home period, which starts in December.
As a result, Kanitkar has been named the women’s team’s temporary head coach at the Asian Games. The women’s team’s bowling coach will be Rajib Dutta, while the fielding coach will be Subhadeep Ghosh.
