After resolving the chaos over the hosting of Asia Cup 2023, India and Pakistan are now indulging in a new tussle over the venues of World Cup 2023. According to a recent news report, Pakistan Cricket Board is unhappy with the Indian Cricket Board’s purposed venues for the marquee event. PCB, India deliberately purposed challenging venues for Pakistan in the world cup.
According to recent developments, Pakistan analysts have begun reviewing data regarding the venues for its team, and they have expressed a desire to play against Australia on a spin-friendly surface in Chennai rather than Afghanistan. According to Cricket Pakistan, PCB purposed M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru to play against Afghanistan while wants Australia to face them in Chennai.
Though the Apex Cricket Council insisted that Pakistan play their match against India in Ahmedabad, the PCB needs to obtain government consent. As a result, the formal timetable announcement for the marquee event has been postponed. The famous competition will take place from October to November in India after 12 years. The last time when India hosted a World Cup in 2011 they ended up winning the tournament.
Shahid Afridi slams PCB for reluctance to play in Ahmedabad against India
Speaking about the draft schedule and India Pakistan match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi slammed PCB for not accepting it. He said,
“Why are they declining to play on Ahmedabad pitches? Does it hurl fire or is it haunted? Go and play and win, If these are the foreseen challenges, then the only way to overcome them is through a comprehensive victory. What matters at the end of the day is Pakistan’s win. The crux only lies in there. Take this rather positively. If they are comfortable there, you should go, pull a victory in front of the packed Indian crowd and show them what you got.”
Notably, Indian Cricket Board has presented a draft schedule for the upcoming World Cup. In the draft proposal, India wants to play Pakistan in Ahmedabad which will also host the opening and Final game of the marquee event. India also wants to play Australia in Chennai, New Zealand in Dharmshala, and Afghanistan in Delhi. India also purposed Australia vs England match in Pune.
