Young Kolkata Knight Riders’ batter Rinku Singh has come to the foray all guns blazing and has taken a big step upward this season. The southpaw hit 317 runs at a blistering strike rate of 149.53 and a brilliant average of 59.25.
Although KKR couldn’t finish into the IPL 2023 playoff position, Rana made his name in the tournament with his brilliant batting. MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings eventually won the IPL 2023 title, their 5th in history.
Following CSK’s incredible achievement, Rinku Singh has come out and revealed Dhoni’s advice to Singh. “He’s the world’s best finisher. I just asked ‘Bhaiya’ what else I could do while I’m going to bat. He just told me don’t think much, just wait for the ball. He advised me when the last over is going on, try to hit straight let the bowler do what he wants to do,” said Rinku Singh.

KKR’s poor campaign:
Despite Rinku Singh’s brilliance, KKR could not reach the IPL 2023 playoffs. The Nitish Rana-led side could only get 12 points in 14 matches and could only move to 7th in the IPL table. Their loss could be attributed to a lot of things, uncertainty in the camp being one of the biggest reasons.
Rana was handed the captaincy as a form of panic decision after Shreyas Iyer got injured just prior to the tournament. KKR also paid the price for under-par bowling wherein they failed to defend good totals at Eden Gardens.
The team would look to build upon this season’s poor performance and take the learning to the next season. As for Rinku Singh, he has laid claim to a India place and could be soon seen into the team.
