‘Kya matlab RCB main Test jaisa khelega’ – Fans react as Cameron Green’s century helps Australia put up respectable score against New Zealand in 1st Test

New Zealand

In the 1st Test match between New Zealand and Australia, the visitors reached a respectable score of 279 courtesy of Cameron Green’s unbeaten knock of 103 runs. The Century by Green came in 155 balls including 16 boundaries. The shots played by the Aussie batter were fantastic and effortless and the way he handled the innings while others were throwing their wickets was commendable. Green’s century showed how he has evolved as a batter in recent times.

On winning the toss, the hosts invited the Aussies to bat first. That seemed to be a brilliant decision as the bowlers didn’t allow the batters to settle down at any point. On the very first day, Australia lost nine wickets with only two batters reaching the 40-run mark. It was because of Green’s century that Australia managed to score 279 runs. While Steve Smith (31) and Usman Khawaja (33) gave a decent start, the Aussies kept losing frequent wickets at regular intervals.

Apart from Green, Mitchell Marsh scored 40 runs in 39 balls including six boundaries and one six. Thanks to Matt Henry’s beautiful spell, the Aussies couldn’t settle in throughout the entire day. Along with Henry’s four wickets, Will O’Rourke and Scott Kuggeleijn took two wickets each.

‘Mainly for where we are as a team’ – Cameron Green praises Australia for their team effort

Centurian Cameron Green praises the entire Australian team for their combined effort in the 1st Test match against New Zealand. Despite playing on a tricky pitch, the way each of them batted and showed good intent, Green is quite happy with that. As per Green, if they reach a semi-competitive score, they can give a tough fight to the hosts.

“Feels really good. Mainly for where we are as a team. Was a tough wicket out there. Was nice to stick it out there, and hopefully put a semi-competitive total on the board. Have played quite a few times with each other in WA (talking about Mitch Marsh). Knew he’d play his shots and that’s how you need to play out there. Not ideal (cramps). Stuck it through. They’re probably just on top. They’ve got a quality batting lineup. Will have to bowl well tomorrow.”
