The top two teams of the Saurashtra Premier League 2023 faced off against each other in the final of the tournament as Kutch Warriors took on the Gohilwad Gladiators at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium in Rajkot. Both the teams came into the match after winning three out of their four games and losing one during the league stage of the tournament.
These two teams played out a thriller during the league stage as the Kutch Warriors narrowly won the game against the Gohilwad Gladiators. The fans were rushing into the stadium to watch the final between the best two teams of the tournament and were anticipating a thrilling end to an already amazing tournament.
The bowlers’ destiny was undoubtedly sealed on the ground, which was almost that of a cemetery, and one might have predicted that it would be the same throughout the game.
Kutch Warriors end the season on a high
Kutch Warriors won the toss and decided to field first in the mega final of the Saurashtre Premier League 2023. They were only able to put up an average total of 156 on the scoreboard. They would have been disappointed at the innings break considering their top three batters got off to a great start but none of them were able to stay at the pitch for a long while. Gohilwad Gladiators’s Ankur Panwar was the pick of the lot as he gave away 24 runs and took three key wickets during his four overs.
Gohilwad Gladiators had the massive chance to chase down this total and become the champions but they got off to a shaky start as they lost three wickets within the first three overs. Raxit Mehta was the only hope for the Gladiators as he was one of three batters to score in double digits. His incredible innings of 72 went in vain as he was losing partners at the other end and lost his wicket when the target looked almost impossible to chase down. In the end, Kutch Warriors took all the ten opposition wickets and won the game by 21 runs. They were crowned as the champions of the Saurashtra Premier League 2023.
