India all-rounder, Krunal Pandya has decided to play for the English county Warwickshire in the Royal London Cup One Day championship, starting on August 2. The Director of the club, Paul Farbrace recently revealed the news in a media statement.

Farbrace said, “Krunal is an incredible signing for the club, and I’m delighted to welcome him to Edgbaston. Krunal will bring a wealth of international experience to a team that will be desperate to do well.”

The 31-year-old Indian all-rounder has played five ODIs and 19 T20Is for the national side. He has also competed in 76 list A matches, amassing a total of 2231 runs and taking 89 wickets.

Farbrace looked content with the new signing and termed Pandya as “a world-renowned all-rounder.’ Speaking on the same he said, “Due to our impressive T20 performances, we will lose players to The Hundred, but that’s always going to happen to successful teams. The opportunity to add a world-renowned all-rounder to an exciting group is fantastic.”

Having won multiple Indian T20 League trophies with Mumbai, Krunal changed his association to the Lucknow team in this year’s Indian T20 League, where he took 10 wickets in 15 matches. The left-handed batter could not do much with the bat and scored a total of 183 runs only.

Speaking on his decision to play in the Royal London Cup One Day Krunal said, “I’m extremely excited to get the opportunity to play county cricket and to join such a history Club as Warwickshire.”

“Edgbaston is a special place to play cricket and I can’t wait to call it my home. I hope I can play my part in a successful 50-over campaign with the Club and I am looking forward to meeting my teammates,” he added.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to both Warwickshire County cricket club and the Indian Cricket board for this opportunity,” said Krunal Pandya in his closing statement.
