Karan Johar welcomed his Student Of The Year (2012) actors, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra, on Koffee With Karan season 8 episode 5. Apart from discussing their love lives – Varun is married to fashion designer Natasha Dalal, and Sidharth is married to actor Kiara Advani – Karan asked them if they were being cautious on his show. Varun then revealed that the producers who work with him are “scared” of what he might say on Koffee With Karan (KWK) and get in trouble.
Karan Johar went on to say that it was after a shoot that he was convinced Alia was the right fit. “I’m saying it started like this, but three months later for a photo shoot, I remember she stood quiet and didn’t look at either of you. She was either conscious or shy because you all knew who I was. She had no idea who I was. We did the photo shoot, and I knew from the first shot,” Karan Johar explained.

Varun Dhawan responded, “Ya, even I knew. Stop pretending.” KJo interjected, “Varun, what are you talking about? You kept sending me pictures of other girls, implying that you didn’t want me to cast her.” Varun responded, “No, no…I didn’t know her.” He went on to say, “But see, that was what was wonderful, that she was the underdog within the underdogs here already, then she emerged.”
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt wrote to her co-stars, “We made our debut together on the Koffee With Karan couch. Unforgettable debut due to my unforgettable gaffe (the President’s response oopsie). But I couldn’t help but be a part of this episode in some way. I’m glad Koffee asked me to give this byte because otherwise, I would have felt terrible FOMO.”
Season 8 of Koffee With Karan is available on Disney+ Hotstar, with a new episode airing every Thursday at midnight. In the most recent season of KWK, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday, Sunny Deol, and Bobby Deol have all graced the Koffee couch. Celebrities including Rani Mukerji, Kajol, and Janhvi Kapoor are set to appear on the show in the coming weeks.
