A big controversy has erupted in New Zealand’s domestic cricket. During a match between Canterbury and Auckland at Hagley Oval, officials caught Henry Nicholls attempting to tamper with the ball. The big revelation followed after the Kiwi player was found guilty in the incident. The umpires in the match recognized the attempt of Nicholls to tamper with the ball and reported it to the officials.

Following the incident, Henry Nicholls has been charged with the violation of the code of conduct of New Zealand cricket. The reports suggested that Nicholls attempted to brush the ball with the help of his helmet. It was the third day of the Plunkett Shield match between Canterbury and Auckland, where Nicholls was caught and found guilty. Following the incident, Nicholls was summoned to a hearing.

Nicholls is in New Zealand’s squad for the Test series against Bangladesh. In the match between Canterbury and Auckland, Nicholls helped his team to win the match by 8 wickets. New Zealand is also having a good time in the ODI World Cup 2023. “Nicholls has been reported for allegedly breaching Rule 3.1, article 1.15 of the Code during Day 3 of the Plunket Shield match between Canterbury and Auckland at Hagley Oval,” wrote a source of New Zealand cricket in its statement. The reports suggest that the complaint over Nicholls has been referred to a local first-class cricket commissioner. Nicholls has not yet reacted to anything about the incident.

The statement further added that Nicholls was found to have breached the Law 41.3 of the law of cricket. “It involves changing the condition of the ball in breach of Law 41.3 of the Laws of Cricket,” added the statement of New Zealand Cricket. The reaction of the cricket world has not been good. Many fans and former cricketers have openly criticized the act of Nicholls on social media.
