According to spinner Ben White, Ireland has a good team at their disposal that is capable of defeating India in the forthcoming T20I series. While India has provided opportunities to some of its young guns in preparation for the Asian Games as well as the T20 World Cup that will be played next year whilst Ireland has selected its top players for the series against the number 1 ranked side.

White spoke to BBC and discussed his team’s chances against the 2007 World Cup winning nation. He said, “We can beat anyone on our day – you never know what can happen and you have to believe. Playing against India at home is huge, they’re the best team in the world but we are relishing the challenge.”

India just suffered a 3-2 T20I series loss to the West Indies and will be eager to avenge that loss against Paul Stirling’s team. Sanju Samson remains at the top of White’s list of batters he intends to get out, who has 21 wickets across 18 T20Is.

White declared that he wouldn’t withdraw while complimenting the Indian batsmen on their skill with spin bowling. The bowler said that, “He’s been very good over the last years and they have some very exciting talent in their squad – in truth, I’d be happy with anyone’s wicket.”

The spinner was critical about his plan and his approach towards the series and helping out his team in the series. He said, “They are very good players of spin but I don’t think I would be more defensive. I’ll just be trying to take wickets and attacking.”

The Irish International spoke about the pressure on the players ahead of the series opener against India. He said, “Everyone’s excited and we’ll eliminate pressure by playing the way we do. Every ball is an event and we have to stay one step ahead of them. We’ll enjoy it – with the big crowd they bring to the ground and the noise they make it should be a great spectacle.”
