The Australian camp is happy after clinching another series after defeating Pakistan in the Boxing Day Test. The hosts were much in control despite some great bowling and some decent batting performances from Pakistan. The Aussies defeated the South Asian giants by 79 runs which ended hopes of Pakistan to keep the series alive. This has currently put Australia third on the World Test Championship table putting them just under South Africa and New Zealand. This will give skipper Pat Cummins and co a lot of confidence going on to play the West Indies in January. They will be hoping to continue to dominate at home throughout.
The Melbourne Cricket Ground(MCG) once again gave us a cracker of a game where the Test match went on for four days with both teams in the game. This was a game Pat Cummins will not forget. The Aussie skipper was the man taking his second 10-wicket haul and securing a victory for his team. His spells in both innings made sure Pakistan never completely came into the game and posed any threat on the Australia total. It is a big achievement to do that on one of the most popular grounds in cricket history in front of 100,000 people. This was a match to remember for Cummins.
Cummin’s savage reply to Mohammad Hafeez
In the press conference of the concluded match, Pat Cummins was asked to reply to Pakistan team director and former player Mohammed Hafeez on the comment he made stating that Pakistan played better cricket than the other team. The reply by the Australian skipper stunned everyone as he said “ Ahh, cool. It doesn’t matter, does it? It’s the team who wins at the end.” This reply was a great way to answer back to Hafeez who still seemed proud of his team even after the loss.
This answer by Cummins shows why he was chosen to lead this Australian side and why he has achieved a lot of success. The courage to answer an experienced person like Hafeez, who has equally been successful for Pakistan. Pat Cummins seems like he is going to lead the side for a long time and achieve a lot of things. He has proved himself as an Aussie star for the future and will hopefully look to keep winning and keep impressing everyone as a captain and as a strike bowler.
