Karan Johar & Oscar winner Guneet Monga to collab for the Hindi adaptation of ‘The Intouchables’

Karan Johar

Before becoming well-known worldwide as Lupin, French actor Omar Sy won hearts with the critically and commercially successful French buddy comedy ‘The Intouchables’. It tells the tale of two grown men from very different backgrounds who come together to support one another in overcoming obstacles in their lives. The Intouchables, an instant classic, have found a new home thanks to Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Kapoor, the creative producers of the hugely popular and critically acclaimed movie KILL.

Once again, Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment have pooled their creative energies to deliver this beloved French movie to Indian viewers. The film is slated to be directed by Collin D’Cunha. It is a component of a wider creative collaboration between Guneet Monga Kapoor’s Sikhya Entertainment and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Their venture was announced in May 2023.

Karan Johar and Guneet Monga’s new venture:

François Cluzet and Omar Sy gave remarkable performances as the major actors in Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache’s 2011 film ‘The Intouchables.’ It was well-praised for its moving story and direction. The goal of the Hindi version is to bring back the original’s enchantment while also adding an original element that appeals to Indian viewers.

Commenting on his upcoming project Karan says, “It’s an exciting chance and creative challenge to work on ‘The Intouchables’. Our goal is to infuse this cherished French film with our cultural sensitivities while preserving its essence for the Indian audience. It’s fantastic to work with Guneet once more, and I know that this project will resonate with audiences all throughout the nation.”

Sharing her excitement, Guneet Monga Kapoor stated, “It is widely recognised that ‘The Intouchables’ is among the most admired films globally. Being able to present that to Hindi and Indian audiences is really thrilling. Following a fast-paced, action-packed, KILL, we are trying our hand at dramedy, which represents the breadth of our partnership with Dharma and about which we are really excited!”
