ODI World Cup 2023

‘Kabse Match khelenge’ – Fans react to news of Travis Head joining Australian squad for rest of ODI World Cup 2023

Travis Head set to join Australia for the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign.

There is a piece of massive good news for the Australian Cricket Fans. Dynamic left-handed opening batter Travis Head is on his way to India. The 29-year-old will be joining the Australian squad for the remainder of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.

Travis Head had injured his forearm during the five-match ODI Series against South Africa. This had ruled him out of the 2023 ODI World Cup for the first three games of the tournament. The Australians are currently in Lucknow playing against Sri Lanka in their third game of the World Cup campaign.

David Warner and Mitchell Marsh are opening the batting for Australia with Marsh in particular struggling for runs. The arrival of Travis Head can help the Australian team find the much-needed firepower at the top of the order.

Travis Head set to join the team soon

29-year-old Australian opener Travis Head is set to be part of the ODI World Cup 2023. The left-handed batter was deeply missed by the Australian team during the early two games. As per reports, Travis Head could play against the Netherlands on the 25th of October.

The Australian batter said to the media “It’s coming along well, and probably better than we hoped. When we decided not to go with surgery, which would have meant a ten-week recovery, we were told it would be a minimum six weeks with the splint before we could look at playing again”

In his own words, Head is targeting the game against the Dutch to make his comeback to the side. “Going by that plan, the Netherlands game will be just under six weeks from impact which is a pretty aggressive date so everything would have to go perfectly from here to make that deadline. But we’ll just see how it progresses over the next few days and I’m excited by the prospect of joining the boys over there later in the week.”

David Warner and Travis Head had formed a lethal opening pair after the retirement of Aaron Finch. The 29-year-old has played 58 ODI games scoring 2064 runs with 3 centuries and 15 fifties. Head’s best score is 152 and he has an average of 41.2 and a strike rate of just under 100.
