David Warner

In the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, star Australia batter David Warner continues his dominance with the bat. While playing against the Netherlands at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Warner smashed a magnificent century to equal Sachin Tendulkar’s record of centuries in the ODI World Cup.

Warner, in his record sixth ODI World Cup century, smashed 104 runs off 93 balls with the help of eleven fours and three sixes. After his amazing batting performance and Glenn Maxwell’s blistering century, Australia posted a massive total of 399 runs in 50 overs. However, Warner’s celebration after an iconic century went viral on social media as he showcased his fondness for Indian cinema while celebrating his century.

Here is the video:

After smashing a boundary to complete his century, Warner showcased his fondness for Indian superstar Allu Arjun and his film Pushpa. After his iconic jump, Warner did steps of Pushpa film and ‘Jhalak Sharfi’ song to celebrate his century. The video soon went viral on social media as fans praised Warner’s love for India. It’s worth noting that this is Warner’s 22nd ODI tonne and second in the ongoing tournament.

Can David Warner break Rohit Sharma’s record?

The record for the most centuries in the history of the ODI World Cup is held by India skipper Rohit Sharma. Rohit, in his 22 innings, has scored seven centuries in the ODI World Cup. However, with two centuries in the ongoing tournament and the red-hot form he possesses, Warner is looking close to breaking or levelling Rohit’s record. Meanwhile, Rohit is also in red-hot form, as he is the fourth-highest run scorer in the ongoing tournament.

The fight for the record and cup will intensify further as the tournament approaches its second half. However, Rohit’s army is currently enjoying a week off, as the team will be back on the field on Sunday, October 29th, to face defending champions England at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The team will look to continue their winning run as they are the only unbeaten team in the ongoing tournament.

Here is how fans react to David Warner’s century celebration:
