Ravindra Jadeja, a star all-rounder for India, gave a strong response to former India captain Kapil Dev’s accusation of “arrogance” in team India players. Particularly, the 1983 World Cup champion skipper was on point in his criticism of India’s embarrassing loss to West Indies in the second ODI.
Kapil believed that the players’ ‘know-it-all’ attitude and sense of arrogance have developed as a result of the money they earn playing for franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In contrast, Jadeja responded scathingly to Kapil Dev’s remarks, saying that there had been no “arrogance” amongst the team.
Kapil Dev spoke to ‘The Week’ Magazine after India’s humiliating loss at the hands of the West Indies during the second ODI in Barbados. He said, “Sometimes when too much money comes, arrogance comes. These cricketers, they feel they know everything.”

The Chennai Super Kings star spoke to the reporters ahead of the third ODI against West Indies. They said, “I don’t know when he (Kapil Dev) has said this. I don’t search these things on social media. See everyone has their own opinion. Ex-player have full right to share their opinion, but I don’t think there is any arrogance in this team.”
The spinner spoke about how the team is united and the aim is to work hard for the team. He said, “Everyone is enjoying their cricket and everyone are hardworking. No one has taken anything for granted. They are giving their 100 per cent. Such comments generally come when the Indian team lost a match. This is a good bunch of boys; this is a good group. We are representing India and that is our main aim, there is no personal agenda.”
On Tuesday at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad, the third and final ODI in the series will be decided. Team India would also clinch the series with a victory in the third ODI. The two teams will focus on the upcoming five-match T20I series that is set to start on August 3rd once the ODI series is over.
