‘Itna galat kaise ho sakte ho?’ – Fans troll Aakash Chopra for horribly wrong predictions for KKR vs RCB game in IPL 2023

KKR defeated RCB by 81 runs as Shardul Thakur starred with 68 runs off 29 balls

Aakash Chopra's predictions went wrong

Aakash Chopra, a former cricketer for India and a knowledgeable observer of the game, made a daring prediction before the ninth game of the Indian Premier League 2023, which will pit Kolkata Knight Riders against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Eden Gardens Stadium. While the league underwent significant adjustments throughout the past three rounds due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this will be Kolkata’s first home game since April 28, 2019.

Chopra was confident that the Faf du Plessis-led team would triumph in their forthcoming match against the Nitish Rana-led Kolkata Knight Riders. The Mumbai Indians were easily trounced by RCB in their season opener, giving them winning momentum after defeating the five-time winners. RCB appeared to be in excellent shape in every area, whereas KKR struggled to create an impact against Punjab Kings in their previous game and ultimately lost.

‘Russell and Maxwell will together hit five or more sixes’ – Aakash Chopra

“Bangalore will win this match, which means two out of two for Bangalore, and it means two out of two losses for Kolkata. Is that going to happen? I don’t know, we shall find out, but I feel that will happen. My second prediction is that Siraj and Harshal will together pick up three or more wickets. You can add the name of any other fast bowler you want; it will become a total of five wickets. I feel fast bowlers will be more successful than spinners here,” Chopra said in a video on his YouTube channel.

The pitch at Eden Gardens Stadium has historically supported the batters. The hitters enjoy their time on the pitch in the quickest version of the game and make the most of the shorter boundaries during the powerplay. Chopra predicted that the hitters would dominate the opening six overs and high scores would be seen based on the batting lineups of the two teams.

“More than 90 runs will be scored in the powerplay overs. In the first six overs apiece for both sides, even 105 runs might be scored. There will be decent hitting in the initial overs. There will be a little help from the pitch for the fast bowlers, but the ball will come very nicely onto the bat. Russell and Maxwell will together hit five or more sixes. Both like hitting sixes, and this ground is extremely favourable for hitting sixes,” Chopra added. As the game continued, KKR defeated RCB by 81 runs, and fans later trolled Chopra for his horribly wrong predictions.
