BCB Chief Jalal Yunus opens up on Virat Kohli's gesture for Litton Das

Litton Das, who opened the innings for Bangladesh in the clash against India in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022, played a stupendous knock of 60 off just 27 balls and kept the Bangla Tigers in the race chasing a huge target of 185 before rain-interrupted in the 7th over and ruined the momentum.

For the unversed, the target was revised to 151 off 16 overs and the team led by Shakib Al Hasan eventually lost the match by 5 runs in the DLS method. Virat Kohli, who was in awe of Das’ innings, presented a signed bat to the batter in a gesture to appreciate the knock. Moved by the same, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)’s chief Jalal Yunus said that they were sitting in the dining hall when the Indian great came to present the bat. Further, Yunus said that it was a moment of inspiration for Das and also lauded the latter for his talent.

He is a brilliant player in Tests and ODIs: Yunus

Further, the BCB chief said that Das would do well for Bangladesh in the upcoming years and added that the batter has started to play well in the shortest format of the game as well, much to the stupefaction of his critics.

“When we were sitting in the dining hall, Virat Kohli came and gifted a bat to Litton. According to me, it was a moment of inspiration for Litton. Litton is a class batter. We have seen him play classical shots. He is a brilliant player in Tests and ODIs. Recently, he has started playing well in T20Is as well,” Yunus was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Soon after the defeat, Bangladesh’s star player Nurul Hasan claimed that it was Kohli’s fake fielding that cost them the match, rocking the entire cricketing world. However, Kohli, on the other hand, with his kind gesture, has won the hearts of Bangladeshi fans and Indian fans as well. The superstar’s next assignment would be against Zimbabwe in the crucial clash on November 6, Sunday and the right-handed batter would hope to carry on with his form and help India make it through to the summit clash as well.
