Lahore Qalandars lifted the Pakistan Super League Trophy for the second time in a row as they defeated Multan Sultans by a margin of 1 run. Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi led by example, hammering 44* off 15 deliveries and picking up four wickets in the final against Multan Sultans, who fell just a run short while chasing a big target of 200.

After the match, the Lahore team members were gifted plots and iPhones for their achievements in the season. While David Wiese won an iPhone 14, Shaheen Afridi won three plots, and Zaman Khan, Abdullah Shafique, Rashid Khan, and Fakhar Zaman also won plots. The Lahore Qalandars franchise posted a video about the same on their Twitter handle.

In the match, Afridi won the toss for Lahore Qalandars and chose to bat first at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Mirza Baig and Fakhar Zaman returned to form for Lahore, putting in a crucial 38-run stand for the first wicket. Baig hit 30 off 18 balls before being caught out in the fifth over by Ihsanullah’s delivery.

Fakhar continued to score runs with a 57-run partnership for the second wicket with youngster Abdullah Shafique, putting the Qalandars on track for a big total. Usama Mir picked up Zaman’s wicket in the 12th over to provide the Sultans with the crucial breakthrough.

Shafique, on the other hand, produced a brilliant fifty from the other end. He led Qalandars with 65 off 40 before being caught off Anwar Ali’s delivery in the 19th over. Shaheen then played a captain’s knock, hitting 44* off 15 balls with two fours and five fifties to put a total of 200/6 on the board.

While the Multan Sultan batters put in some good work for the team, it wasn’t enough to get them through. Rilee Rossouw (54) hit a stunning half-century, while Khushdil Shah (25) and Mohammad Rizwan (34) made cameos. In the end, they came up one run short, and Qalandars won their second title.
