In the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023, Indian batters had been phenomenal throughout the tournament. From Shubman Gill to Virat Kohli, they have hammered brilliant centuries and led their respective team to victory. On Sunday’s last day of league games, three players scored a century including Kohli, Gill and Camron Green.

Gill and Green helped their teams to beat RCB and SRH, respectively, while Kohli’s century came in a losing cause. However, after the conclusion of the 70th league game, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter to praise Gill and Green for their impressive knocks. Notably, Ganguly didn’t mention Kohli and that left fans split on social media.

Ganguly, in his tweet, said, “What talent this country produces… Shubman Gill… Wow… two stunning knocks in two halves. IPL… what standards in the tournament.” However, Ganguly didn’t name anyone other than Gill but it has been assumed that by referring to talent he was mentioning Green’s knock. This left Kohli fans split as they thought that Ganguly ignored him.

The great handshake saga of Kohli and Ganguly

This is not the first time that a rift has been spotted between two superstars of Indian cricket. Earlier, in the ongoing IPL, Delhi Capitals faced Royal Challengers Bangalore in M Chinnaswamy Stadium. During the game, Virat Kohli gave a death stare to Ganguly after taking a catch. After that, both didn’t shake hands after RCB beat DC.

This is not a mystery that both Ganguly and Kohli had a troublesome history. When Ganguly was leading the Indian Cricket Board, some of his decision didn’t go well with then-skipper Virat Kohli and vice-versa. It worsened after Kohli stepped down from the T20I captaincy and then was asked to step down from the ODI captaincy. However, after some time, Kohli also stepped down from Test captaincy and Ganguly was removed as chairman of the Indian Cricket Board.
