Delhi suffered a significant setback in their last home game against the defending champion Gujarat Titans.

In the 11th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the Delhi Capitals, under newly appointed skipper David Warner, and the Rajasthan Royals will lock horns in a ferocious contest. Delhi would like to record their first victory of the season as they have lost both of their games till now.

Delhi suffered a significant setback in their last home game against the defending champion Gujarat Titans. The absence of their star players like Rishabh Pant is having an impact on them. However, the team will hope for a different outcome, and it will be interesting to see what lineup they put out as they face Rajasthan Royals. Meanwhile, in today’s article, we will discuss their best possible playing XI.

Top Order

#1 David Warner

Delhi’s skipper, David Warner played a decent inning of 37 runs during their most recent match against Gujarat Titans. The senior Australian batter is the highest run scorer for the Capitals as he gives the struggling Delhi team a strong start. Warner’s performance could be a significant issue for Rajasthan Royals if he can execute at the very top of his game. However, his batting strike rate could be an issue for DC.

#2 Prithvi Shaw

In the ongoing tournament, star Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw has struggled to perform as he has scored only 19 runs in the two games. Delhi needs Shaw to step up and do better if they want to win their first game of the year. The Indian batter will be eager to regain his excellent form.

#3 Rillie Rossouw

South Africa star Rillie Rossouw is likely to play for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming games as their star player Mitchell Marsh is not available. The already struggling Delhi will expect Rossouw to fire. If it happens, Delhi will surely win the game as he has a decent record against Rajasthan Bowlers.

#4 Sarfaraz Khan

Another Mumbai-based wicketkeeper batter Sarfaraz Khan has been one of the key players in Delhi’s lineup this year. Sarfaraz has got a chance in place of Rishabh Pant and he is yet to fire like him. In Delhi’s previous game, Sarfaraz played a decent knock and scored 30 runs. He will like to make it even better when playing the Rajasthan Royals. However, Rajasthan will look to expose his inability to play fast bowlers.

Middle Order

#5 Rovman Powell

As Rilee Rossouw has struggled to do effectively with the bat, Delhi may try to bring in Rovman Powell as one of their new additions to strengthen the middle order. Powell, who took the bat for Delhi in the first match of the season, was dropped after scoring only one run in the second game. He was replaced by Abishek Porel in the second game, and Powell will aim to make an impact if he is given a spot in the starting Lineup.

#6 Abhishek Porel

Delhi has replaced injured Rishabh Pant with Bengal wicketkeeper batter Abishek Porel. He participated in the game between Delhi and Gujarat and managed to score 20 runs before Rashid Khan trapped him. The effectiveness of Porel in the middle order against Rajasthan could be crucial for Delhi as he can change the momentum.

#7 Axar Patel

Axar Patel has been one of the few reliable players for Delhi in the IPL 2023. Axar claimed a wicket in his team’s opening game of the season and also scored 16 runs, while in the second game, he quickly scored 36 runs to help Delhi reach a total of 162 runs. He will be a key person on Delhi’s team in their future games.

Bowlers

#8 Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav failed to make an impression in his previous match for Delhi. The Indian spinner bowled three overs, allowing 18 runs while going without a wicket. Yadav’s performance against Rajasthan would be crucial given the wealth of quality Delhi’s opponent possesses. Knowing he was one of the highest wicket-takers of the previous season, Delhi will rely on him.

#9 Khaleel Ahmed

In Delhi’s previous game, Khaleel Ahmed was a substitute player who had little impact on the match. In his four overs of bowling, Khaleel allowed 38 runs while also getting one wicket. When Delhi Capitals play Rajasthan Royals, he is likely to be given a spot in the starting lineup. Considering his abilities with the bowl, Delhi will look upon him to give them some quick breakthroughs.

#10 Mukesh Kumar

It will be a toss-up between Mukesh Kumar and Chetan Sakariya as to who will make it into the playing eleven. However, we are going with the trend and it is more likely that Mukesh once again starts for Delhi. Despite his poor performance in both of Delhi’s IPL games thus far, Mukesh Kumar will be motivated to add to his tournament wicket total as his team faces Rajasthan.

#11 Anrich Nortje

In their previous encounter against Gujarat Titans, South African pacer Anrich Nortje was Delhi’s top bowler. To thwart Gujarat’s plans, he took two wickets in the game and made it interesting. Despite the spell’s failure, Nortje will be eager to replicate it in the future game.
