In the 48th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Gujarat Titans beat Rajasthan Royals by 9 wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Riding on amazing bowling performances from Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed, GT restricted RR to 118/10 in the first innings. With some quick knocks from openers, GT chased it down in just 13.5 overs.
Earlier, after winning the toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson opted to bat first. His decision didn’t go well with the team as RR opener Jos Buttler was dismissed by GT skipper Hardik Pandya for just 8 runs off 6 balls with the help of two boundaries. After his departure, Jaiswal, along with Sanju Samson, tried to rescue his team. However, he eventually got out while trying to clinch a quick single. Jaiswal scored 14 runs off 11 balls.
Meanwhile, Samson scored 30 runs off 20 balls with the help of three boundaries and a six. He was dismissed by Joshua Little while trying to hit hard. However, after his dismissal, no RR batter looked comfortable against the Visitors and was bundled up for 118/10 in 17.5 overs. For GT, Rashid Khan clinched three wickets, while Noor Ahmed clinched two wickets.
Gujarat Titans dominated the run chase
Chasing 119, GT got an amazing start as opener Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill added 71 runs for the first wicket. Gill, in his innings, scored 36 runs off 35 balls with the help of six boundaries. After his departure, Saha, along with skipper Hardik Pandya, added unbeaten 48 runs for the second wicket.
Saha, in his innings, scored unbeaten 41 runs off 34 balls with the help of five boundaries, while Hardik scored 39 runs off 15 balls with the help of three boundaries and as many sixes. Yuzvendra Chahal clinched the only wicket as he dismissed Shubman Gill. This is GT’s seventh victory in 10 games and they are now the table toppers. On the other hand, RR is in fourth position with 10 points in as many games.
