‘Inki problems toh kabhi khatam nahi hongi’ – Fans react as Inzamam-ul-Haq resigns from his post as PCB chief selector
Pakistan, on the other hand, is struggling currently in the ODI World Cup 2023 being held in Indi
Inzamam-ul-Haq, Pakistan’s head selector, announced his departure from his position in the wake of Babar Azam and team’s poor performance in the tournament. Inzamam made his choice in response to a claim that he had a conflict of interest, according to geo.tv. According to the article, Inzamam is an affiliate of the player’s management firm alongside being part of PCB. The firm helps to negotiate contracts for players.
The 53-year-old, who was reappointed in August, is requesting that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) look into this matter further. As quoted by Geo.Tv, Inzamam-ul-Haq said, “People speak without research. Questions were raised on me, so I decided that it was better I resign. I told the PCB to do their research. I have no relation with the player-agent company.”
In the meantime, PCB has began an inquiry into a conflict of interest regarding the squad selection procedure that was mentioned in the media.
PCB posted on social media saying that, “Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has set up a five-member fact-finding committee to investigate allegations in respect of conflict of interest reported in the media pertaining to the team selection process. The committee will submit its report and any recommendations to the PCB Management in an expeditious manner.”
Pakistan and their poor run in ODI World Cup 2023
Pakistan has lost four of its opening six World Cup games, and they are in danger of losing their chance at a semifinal spot. They have four points and a poor Net Run Rate and are currently sixth in the standings. After defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets and the Netherlands by 81 runs, respectively, Babar Azam and company got off to a fantastic start in the main event.
However, the Men in Green have dropped their last four games against South Africa, Afghanistan, Australia, and India. Pakistan lost a thrilling match against the Proteas by only one wicket. However, Pakistan is still vying to go to the semifinals. They need to triumph in their final three matches, which are against England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh.
