Indian team batter Ajinkya Rahane dwells on his topic of retirement from international cricket

After making an excellent comeback into the Indian Test team and receiving the vice-captaincy position for the next series versus the West Indies, Ajinkya Rahane has stated that he still has quite a bit of cricket left in him.

Rahane, who had been absent from the Test team for nearly 17 months, had a fantastic domestic campaign and this year helped Chennai Super Kings win the IPL 2023 championship. The Mumbai batsman was able to join the team before the World Test Championship final versus Australia at the Oval last month as a result of this. Rahane was India’s top batter in the match, scoring 89 and 46 runs despite the team’s defeat. Although he was anticipated to be an essential component of the West Indies tour, the 34-year-old’s return to the vice-captaincy surprised many.

Rahane was questioned about regaining the vice-captaincy prior to the opening Test. Rahane claimed that he felt comfortable in the position and delighted to be returning to the team. Ajinkya Rahane said, “I’m used to this role. I was a vice-captain for almost four or five years. But I’m really happy to be back in the team. I’m really happy to be back as a vice-captain. I’m used to this role.”

Rahane stated that he nevertheless has plenty of cricket left in his career and feels far more confident when questioned about his ideal homecoming to the side. The Indian team vice-captain claimed to be enjoying both his batting and his game of cricket.

The Chennai Super Kings batter said that “I’m still young. I still have a lot of cricket left in me. The IPL season was good, the domestic season was also good. Batting-wise, I feel a lot more confident. In the last one and a half years, I worked on my fitness and some other key points. I’m enjoying my cricket at the moment. I’m enjoying my batting as well. I don’t want to think ahead a lot. For now, every match is important, personally and from the perspective of the team. So, I’m focusing on that.”
