Kolkata and Delhi faced each other at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to field first. They bowled well and kept the opposition scoring rate in check with regular wickets. Chetan Sakariya and Axar Patel shared one wicket each in the powerplay while Mustafizur Rahman kept things tight.
In form Kuldeep Yadav struck twice in the seventh over to further dent the opposition as the scorecard read 35/4. Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana tried to steady the ship for the Men In Purple and Gold with a partnership of 48 runs. However, the partnership was broken by a brilliant piece of keeping from Rishabh Pant behind the stumps. Iyer tried to play a cut shot against Kuldeep.
However, the ball hit the inside half of the bat and Pant went down low to catch the ball to complete the dismissal. Kolkata was further dented as Andre Russell was stumped by Pant in the same over. Half-century from Rana and a 23 from Rinku Singh took the team to 146/9.
On the other hand, the Shreyas Iyer-led side retaliated with the ball. Umesh Yadav and Harshit Rana took one wicket each to reduce Delhi to 17/2. However, the partnership of 65 runs between David Warner and Lalit Yadav helped the team recover and get into the position of strength at 82-2 in 10th over. However, Yadav struck twice and got the wickets of Warner and Pant to leave Delhi reeling at 84-5. Notably, Sunil Narine dismissed Lalit Yadav at the same time. However, the likes of Rovman Powell, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur played cameos to take Delhi home by 4 wickets.
