The five-match T20I series between India and South Africa is all set to start on June 9. The first game will be played in Delhi. The hosts will be fielding quite a few players who don’t have enough experience at the highest level. On the other hand, the Proteas will be playing with a full-strength side. However, the men in blue can’t be underestimated especially at home.

The last time a team beat India at home in a T20I series was Australia way back in early 2019. At that time, the Aussies beat the then Virat Kohli-led side by 2-0. Meanwhile, there are a few players who can be a threat to the home side in this series. Either these players have done well against India, or they have been in tremendous form of late. In this listicle, we will discuss three players who could be a threat to India.

Three players who can be a threat to India

  1. Marco Jansen

The left-arm pacer incidentally made his international debut against India when the team visited the Rainbow nation earlier this year. In the three Tests he played, he took 19 wickets. However, the format will be different but he can prove to be threatening as Indian batters generally don’t enjoy playing left-arm pacers. Also, during the Indian T20 League 2022, he troubled batters with his swing and pace while playing for Hyderabad.

2. Aiden MarkramĀ

Once an opening batter, Markram has shown the world that he can be an effective middle-order batter in limited-overs cricket as well. Recently, he had a tremendous time in the Indian T20 League 2022 as he amassed 381 runs in 14 games at an average of 47.63 and a strike rate of 139.05 including three fifties. The best part about his form was that he finished games for his side in the Indian T20 League 2022. For the unversed, he would be eager to do well as he will be playing his first game against India in the shortest format of the game.

3. Lungi Ngidi

The tall pacer might be able to trouble the Indian batters with his extra bounce. Talking about his T20I record, the right-arm bowler has played 23 games and has 36 scalps to his name. His average (19.61) and strike rate (13.1) are extremely healthy for a bowler in a format where batters dominate the show. Not to forget, he sat out the entire Indian T20 League 2022 while being part of the Delhi franchise. Thus, he would be eager to get on the field.
