Team India will be in action from 9 June 2022 as they will face South Africa in a five-match T20I series. Team India will look to continue their dominance in this shortest format of the game. Whereas, this will be South Africa’s first T20I series after last year’s World Cup.
Big names like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested for this series. New players like Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh have been called up to the India squad, based on their recent performance in the Indian T20 Leauge 2022. It can be a good opportunity for them to showcase their potential in the International circuit. On the other hand, all eyes will be on several Proteas players like Quinton de Kock and David Miller as they too are coming off a good outing in the Indian T20 League 2022.
Here are the three top players to watch out for in the series
Dinesh Karthik
This veteran wicket-keeper batter proved his critics wrong by displaying his finishing skills in this year’s tournament for his Bangalore franchise. Batting down the order, he scored 330 runs at a strike rate of 183.33.
Dinesh Karthik scored at an average of 55 and his six-hitting abilities during the death overs made him special in this tournament. He managed to hit 22 sixes in the tournament.
Aiden Markram
Batting at the middle order, Aiden Markram had a superb season for his Hyderabad franchise. He scored 381 runs in 112 innings at an average of 47.62.
The South African batter represented his country in 18 T20I innings where he managed to score 588 runs at an average of 39.20. It will be his first outing against India in T20Is if he gets a chance in the playing XI.
Harshal Patel
Bangalore’s Harshal Patel had another splendid season in the Indian T20 Leauge 2022. He picked up 19 wickets in 15 matches with an economy of 7.66.
Till now, he played eight T20I matches where he picked up 11 wickets at an economy of 8.51. His variations along with his death over bowling skills can be a vital option for India in this series.
