T20 World Cup 2024
India vs Netherlands World Cup match could be abandoned as rain likely to play spoilsport
India having won their 20-20 World Cup opener against Pakistan looks to continue their winning run at the tournament. The Men in Blue are set to face the Netherlands in the second match of the World Cup on October 27th. The match however seems to be in danger of abandonment as Melbourne weather has decided to play a spoilsport.
Currently, the Eastern Australia region of the World Cup host is facing incessant rain; something that has forced many areas to submerge underwater. The state of Victoria, New South Wales, and Tasmania faced massive rain over the last week and the flood situation in these areas seems to be worsening.
The World Cup which is being held in Australia was also affected by the rain as many warm-up matches and some first-stage matches were canceled due to it. The weather has now forced two matches from October 26th to be abandoned. First, it was the Ireland vs England match that was abandoned in the second innings, and then it was the New Zealand vs Afghanistan match that was abandoned without a ball being balled.
These two matches were at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the venue of the India vs Pakistan match and the next India match is at Sydney Cricket Ground. That however is not good news, as Sydney is facing similar weather as well. In fact, the weather report shows an 80% chance of rain on October 27th which is not at all good news for Indian and cricket fans in general.
Looking at the weather there are high chance that the India vs Netherlands match in the 20-20 World Cup could be canceled due to rain.
